Save the Date: May 23, 2010

WELCOME to our wedding blog. Rick, Tristen, and I had such a great time on our first cruise together, we thought a wedding before our cruise/ honeymoon would be ideal! No going to the airport, we're already here. We have booked the Carnival Conquest sailing out of Galveston for Sunday, May 23, 2010 to Jamaica and Mexico. The wedding takes place before the cruise, so non-sailing guest can attend. The wedding will take place around 1 pm, but you all will need to arrive around 10:30 am for check-in. Then you can board and wonder around the ship, enjoy the beautiful scenery. We will have a steak luncheon after the ceremony. You will be asked to depart around 3pm if you are not sailing with us. The ship will set sail shortly after you disembark.

We would like to invite you all to attend, invitations to follow. If you would like to sail along with us, we hope you will! Because of the wedding you get a cool little perk - early boarding. There are plenty of instructions that Carnival has provided for all of our guest (sailing or not) and we will post them here as well as email them to you all. We do have a large guest list, but Carnival will only let 50 non-sailing guests attend. So, if you want to come along on the cruise we have the added benefit of being able to invite more people.

The best thing about the cruise wedding is that we can't accept gifts! That's right! Any gift has to go through customs and we have to pay taxes. Not to mention lugging it off the ship. So, forget about it. I'm sure you can slip us a little envelope if you HAVE to ;) We're considering asking for a charitable donation instead of gifts, need to do some research. We have both lost loved ones due to cancer.

For now, here are the details of the cruise so that you may decide if you would like to come along with us. We hope you will all consider the cruise, we would love to share the whole week with our family and friends. You can pick how much to do together or alone, it's a big ship! Click here and you will go to the Carnival website for more details. If you do decide to book your cruise, make sure you note that you are attending our wedding. Unfortunately, there is no automatic discount for the cruise but you can certainly ask. Rick tried to get one for you all, but unless it is a really large party, they don't give a discount.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the wedding. Thank you so much for all of your love and support as we begin our lives together.
